  • Summer - Half elf  Ardent (Brian)
  • Samuel - Human Bard (Kirk)

Story
  • Danny connects with the 2nd Mate and discovers he's from the south. They seem to hit it off ok.
  • Li eavesdrops and hears the Captain and 1st Mate arguing over how to lead the crew. The Captain wants Jezekiah to soften his tact with the crew. The 1st Mate appears to ease off the crew, who begin to act more callous about his leadership and their chores. Li tries to keep them working honestly, and diffuse their dissent.
  • 2 months in...no whales sighted. The crew is getting antsy, everything is setting them off. Li continues to attempt to smooth over the crew, but it's getting harder.
  • Over dinner, the Steward admits to his mates in steerage that the owners had under-provisioned the ship, but now that a 1 month's supply of fresh produce had gone missing, he was very concerned. He brought it up with the Captain, but the Captain dismissed the claim. Soon with the cook, they go into the hold and identify that all the animals were missing as well.
  • The party brings the 1st Mate into the hold to show him what's going on.
  • Li skulks the hold overnight, hoping the perpetrator will return, Danny sets a bell-n-string alarm/trap, and rest of the party return to their bunks.
  • While he waits, Li discovers that the crate's contents and the animals have all been left to rot under a pile of provisions...spoiling them. He returns to a hidden perch above some casks and hears light padding of feet, a pause, and continued patter...someone bypassed the trap. He sees a shadowy figure with a glass vial, uncork and pour it's greasy contents onto the provisions.
  • Li descends behind the man, activates his sunrod, and takes a swing at him, but doesn't land a solid blow. The man reels around and Li is surprised to be confronted by himself. His doppelganger bowls him over and dashes away.
  • The party brings the 1st Mate into the hold to show him what's going on.The steward gets chewed out  and is stripped of his rank and duties, sent to stay in the forecastle with the rank and file sailors.
  • The crew is commanded to work all night to throw out the ruined provisions (roughly half).
  • They're told that the ship will be heading to the Azores to resupply. Samuel speeds the ship along with a bardic ritual. Should cut the 2 week trip in half (in part, due to the reduced load from all the lost provisions).
  • Summer talks with the Cabin boy about the officers to see what kind of men they are. Find out that the 1st Mate says his prayers in Draconic, but doesn't worship Bahamut.
  • Li and Samuel meet their ex-Steward to see if they can verify that they are indeed headed to the Azores. He provides them with a journal of the ship's daily heading and quadrant. It would be crude, but sufficient. They spend the next few days making observations and realize they haven't really changed course.
  • Li sneaks into the 1st Mate's room, an searches the contents. His finger is pricked by a trapped chest, and presumes himself poisoned. He finds an apothecary chest with a potent dust that gives a euphoric feeling with just s trace of it. He finds pendant that Samuel estimates is from an African snake cult...and it would be specifically possessed by a high priest. Danny examines the needle and thinks it would be a zombie-making resin, or something that could be used to make someone their thrall.
  • Danny sneaks into the 2nd Mates cabin and finds a disguise kit, letter of marquis signed by the King of Brittania, and a "Lobster-back's" uniform with a cut in the same place he slew the man who killed his father.
  • Summer and Danny on watch on a rainy night, see the Steward get stabbed by a man. They rush in and find that the attacker looks like the Captain, and he did the stabbing with Danny's blade. The killer escaped by jumping off the ship (made no splash). Summer tries to help the Steward, but his condition appears to be beyond her abilities. His wound is very bad, looks like a combo of poison and acid.
  • The Captain brings the crew on deck to review who could be responsible.
  • Danny throws his father's knife away to avoid looking suspicious.
  • Li searches the Captain's quarters quickly while the crew assembles above deck, everything seems normal, so he sneaks back in time to be accounted for.
  • The Captain brings the party variously into his quarters. They say their case, he verifies what he can, and notes that he will have to make an example of the failed watch, by whipping Danny and Summer. He thinks his tools bedeviled, so he enlists Samuel to use his rituals to both, get them back on course, and to find enough fresh food to last the new leg of their movement.
  • Summer encounters the Cabin Boy eavesdropping in the hall and confronts him. He admits he stole Danny's blade for the 1st Mate.
